What is Daily 4?
Daily 4 is the Hoosier Lottery's four-digit game. You just have to select four digits between 0 and 9, but there are variety of play types and optional features. Daily 4 works the same way as Pick 4 games in other states.
When do draws take place?
There are two drawings every day. The Midday draw is held at 1:20 PM ET, while Evening draws take place at 11:00 PM ET.
What is the cut-off time for ticket sales?
Tickets are available for the Midday drawing until 1:10 PM ET. For the Evening draw, sales cut off at 10:39 PM.
What are the different play types?
You can choose between the following play styles – Straight, Box, 1-Off, Combo, Wheel and Front 3/Back 3. This is when you decide whether you want to try to match the numbers exactly (Straight), in any order (Box) or go for something else. See the
Ways to Play page to find out about more about each play type.
How much can I win?
You can win up to 5,000 times your wager amount if you play a Straight. The payout you can win always depends on a number of factors, including your play type and wager amount. It may also depend on whether you have played a 4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way or 24-Way number combination. See the
Odds & Prizes page for all the possible payouts in Daily 4.
What is the difference between 4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way and 24-Way plays?
The difference is how your numbers are configured. A 24-Way play has four different numbers, such as 1234, which can be ordered in 24 different ways. A 4-Way has three digits that are the same and one that is different, such as 1112. A 6-Way has two sets of pairs (e.g. 3344), and a 12-Way has one pair and two unique numbers (e.g. 5567).
How much can I wager?
You can wager as little as $0.50 per play, or increments of $1. The maximum amount is $10.
What are the odds of winning?
The odds of winning also depend on your play type and number combination. The chances of winning with a Straight and matching four numbers in exact order are 1 in 10,000. You can also improve your odds by adding the Superball option.
What is the Superball?
The Superball is a fifth ball from 0 to 9 that is also selected as part of the draw. This can replace any of the other numbers to create new winning combinations. For example, if you pick 2468 as a Straight and the numbers drawn are 2460, this would be a losing ticket on the base game. However, if the Superball was an 8, it could be switched with the 0 to give you a win. Adding the Superball doubles the cost of a play.
Can I play my numbers in multiple draws?
Yes, you can play your numbers in up to 28 consecutive drawings.
Is there an age limit for playing Daily 4?
You must be at least 18 years old to play any lottery in Indiana.
Will my Daily 4 prize be taxed?
Any winnings above $1,200 are subject to state tax at a rate of 3.05 percent in Indiana. If the prize is worth more than $5,000, then 24 percent will also be withheld in federal tax.
How do I claim a prize if I win?
Claim any prize up to $600 from a Hoosier Lottery retailer, or by mail. For larger amounts, you’ll need to either claim by mail or go to one of the payment centers located in Indianapolis, Mishawaka or Evansville.
